Going Green

Going Green

There are many benefits to going green these days, not only because it is a great selling point for your product but it also has many cost savings, not to mention it reduces social, public health, and environmental risks.  We have been researching the different ways a company can "go green".  Some companies call themselves "green" when all they do is pay for their carbon offsets.  This is a nice idea but all it is doing is investing money in future research for other energy sources, the company itself is not doing anything to lower its impact on the environment.

Ways to Start Small

Your company does not have to do a major overhaul in order to become more eco-friendly.  The main idea is to minimize waste.  This includes recirculation of waste products, community or city-wide materials exchange, and co-location of businesses to share energy, heat, and by-products.  Your company can also conduct an internal audit which will bring in a "green collar" worker to find ways your company can reduce waste and increase energy efficiency.  You can also try to use local materials, which will reduce transportation emissions and use less gas.
